There is a new OriginOS 6 out, and it is a massive makeover for Vivo mobile phones. This new operating system (OS) based on Android 16 comes with a totally new design and a whole lot of smart features. But the best news about it is its design.
All are pointing out that OriginOS 6 has a strong resemblance to Apple’s new style, which has been called Liquid Glass.
A liquid glass-emulating design
The likeness between iOS 26 and OriginOS 6 cannot be ignored. It seems that another primary design direction from Apple is gaining momentum across the smartphone universe.
The layout has a “spatial and layered appearance.” Components are represented as if they are placed over and beneath other components. It is achieved via shadows and specific transparent effects, which give a feeling of a 3D impression.
The whole user interface resembles glass, and widgets and notification menus are made from frosted, semi-transparent panels.
The updates also feature rounded app icons and rounded-corner buttons. This design element has been a feature of the Apple user interface.
Even the lock screen has a design that looks aesthetically identical to iOS version 26. Vivo even mimicked the level of customization there.
There are superimposed user interface layers and a floating dock. They cast faint depth shadows to complete the glass-like illusion.
In addition, the new design for the Control Center in OriginOS 6 mimics that of Apple. It entails spacing, translucency, and gradual colors.
They both also have dynamic wallpapers. Those wallpapers adapt to motion and brightness, which makes the display feel smooth, almost alive. Vivo promotion papers talk about the OS having “effortless motion” and “flow.”
New Features and Higher Performance Where design stands out, OriginOS 6 also introduces significant improvements in terms of performance and functionality. Vivo has stated that its new OS is smoother and faster compared to the previous version.
Vivo launched a new Blue River Smooth Engine.
This engine is designed to provide smoother animations, improved touch response, and more stable frame rates.
Vivo is applying this technology to get rid of lag and stutters, so every tap and scroll feels natural. App launch speed has been reportedly increased by as much as 11%.
There are new AI features that are a major component of the update. One notable feature is Live Photo AI Erase. That feature lets users erase unwanted objects or people from moving subjects in a Live Photo.
The update also brings with it an upgraded version of its interactive notification zone, known as Atomic Island. This is Vivo’s response to Apple’s Dynamic Island.
It now has a superior media player and supports more apps, such as delivery and map services. Quick access to music playback and timers is provided by Atomic Island.
The OS also accommodates stacking widgets and notifications. These make the home screen and notification panel clean and organized.
Global Launch and Device Rollout
OriginOS 6 was globally launched on October 10 in China officially. The global launch is, however, occurring shortly.
Vivo will release the operating system in the international market on October 15. The update is important in international markets, such as India, as it is speculated to replace the existing Funtouch OS.
The very first new Vivo phones to include OriginOS 6 pre-installed will be the Vivo X300 and iQOO 15 series.
Those with older models, meanwhile, can look forward to the start of the public beta for the update in November. Some of the earliest phones to receive the beta update include the Vivo X Fold5, the Vivo X200 series, and the iQOO 13 series.
Is It a Copy or Just Competition?
It’s a common practice in the smartphone universe for companies to steal ideas from one another. This copying and pasting has been popular for years.
But the extent of the similarities between the appearance of OriginOS 6 and iOS 26 goes beyond mere similarity. It speaks to whether it is purely a design trend that all are embracing or if Vivo is intentionally borrowing Apple’s new visual flair.
For Vivo, adopting this new and high-end design language can prove to be a wise business strategy. It may make their phones appear more premium to consumers.
Overall, the new OriginOS 6 update is one of Vivo’s largest software updates to date. It marries a very popular look with robust new AI and performance capabilities, making it a solid leap forward for the Android experience. It proves that the “Liquid Glass” aesthetic is a big new trend that other Android manufacturers will surely follow.
