The release of the official confirmation that Gearbox Software has started Borderlands 4, the next installment, and it will be great. The date of release is planned for September 12, 2025. The game will be out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), and on the new and much-expected Nintendo Switch 2; the pre-order has started. • Rafa the Exo-Soldier: As an ex-soldier of Tediore armed with an urban exosuit, Rafa is an embodiment of the soldier type with a modern twist. His exosuit is a piece of advanced technology that makes it possible for him to call forth a variety of weapons as he desires while also setting up automatic turrets, thus giving nonstop firepower and tactical support. Rafa’s past is a tale of survival through the use of the exosuit because he was raised in zero-gravity conditions. As a result, he had to part ways with Tediore after he found out they were using him and the others.

The names and the abilities of the remaining Vault Hunters are still unknown to the extent that they are partly under wraps; however, there are still hints. It is about a character with a Viking theme and axes as well as about another character having a visor and carrying a strikingly well-armored cannon as a weapon.

Gearbox has revealed that this game’s characters will have the most advanced and diverse skill trees in the series’ history of Borderlands. Elopement and Expectation:

Work on the development of Borderlands 4 had already started long before Borderlands 3 was released. The acquisition of Gearbox by Take-Two Interactive back in 2024 somehow confirmed the game’s existence. That big announcement at The Game Awards 2024 was a real roof-raiser, and the first ever detailed gameplay show in a PlayStation State of Play in April 2025, bringing the planet, the hunters, and the mechs into the limelight, kept the fans at the edge of their seats. 

The decision to change the date from September 23rd to September 12th, 2025, got some of the industry people curious, and they started talking, thinking that the new release date might collide with other big exclusive drops like Grand Theft Auto 6. However, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was clear to his words when he said that the reason for the early game release was the team’s belief in the game’s good progress and that it had nothing to do with other games’ timeframes.
